The first of three components of the 40 Days for Life campaign is Prayer & Fasting. They go hand in hand. But with the public prayer witness at the abortion site being the most visible part of the campaign, sometimes we forget to emphasize the fasting. Here are some reflections to help remind us all of the necessity of fasting as we continue to humble ourselves, seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways so God will hear from heaven and forgive our sin and heal our land. (taken from II Chronicles 7:14)

Christ told us some demons can only be driven out by prayer and fasting. The two go hand in hand. Prayer keeps us rooted in the fact that it is our desire to carry out God’s will. Fasting is a sacrifice that helps us reach beyond our own limitations with God’s help.
   – 40 Days For Life

Fasting demonstrates the depth of your desire when praying for something. It shows you that you are serious enough about your prayer request to pay a personal price. God honors deep desire and praying in faith.

Fasting and prayer can restore or strengthen your intimacy with God. Fasting is a way to humble yourself in the sight of God (Psalm 35:13; Ezra 8:21). King David said, “I humbled my soul with fasting” (Psalm 69:10)

There remain a number of hours in need of prayer coverage at Planned Parenthood.  Some faithful souls have responded many times to my requests for their sacrifice to help us keep continuous daily coverage.  Please consider helping add to our number of participants.  Sign up for prayer hours at www.40daysforlife.com/cincinnati
