While filling in an hour of prayer at Planned Parenthood today and talking to one of our faithful vigil participants, I was reminded that I had yet to relay the story of a save that happened before this year’s fall campaign had begun.

Mark has continued to come to pray at Planned Parenthood even after each 40 Days for Life campaign ends. He was there in August and called me to tell me that he had just spoken to a young woman who had parked and sat in her car for about ten minutes. She then took the courageous step to tell her story to this stranger on the sidewalk. She felt compelled to stop and tell whoever was present that her 4-month old son which she had with her was alive because of the signs she saw when she had come with plans to have an abortion four months earlier.

Her first reaction was to be angry at seeing the signs, one of which simply said “CHOOSE LIFE.” Then the sign’s message touched her even after she had been determined to end her baby’s life. She took the message to heart and made the decision, despite her circumstances, not to have the abortion.

Her circumstances seem to have been tailor made by those who would use her situation to push for abortion. She was homeless and jobless and what she was about to do seemed to be the answer. I’m sure she was conflicted about her decision, but she nevertheless stepped out in faith (although she probably didn’t think of it that way at the time) and made a bold move, given her life at that time, to let her baby live.

God blessed her for that decision and she soon got a job and is not on the street today. Mark said she was so happy to tell him her baby wouldn’t be here now if not for the pro-life signs.

Mark said in all the years he has been coming to pray there, this was the first time he ever was told of the difference his and others’ presence has made. Your simple presence may also be the sign of hope for someone in a similar circumstance. Go to www.40daysforlife.com/cincinnati and sign up to join us in prayer and bring a message of hope to a hurting world.
