Cincinnati Right to Life Celebrates One-Year Relief for Taxpayers from Funding America’s Largest Abortion Provider

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 15, 2025
Cincinnati, OH — Cincinnati Right to Life is thrilled to share that beginning today taxpayers have received a one-year reprieve from subsidizing America’s largest abortion provider—an institution that receives more than $800 million annually from hardworking families. This is a tremendous step forward for the protection of life and responsible stewardship of public funds.
At the same time, we celebrate that Cincinnati has a robust alternative. In Cincinnati there are 67 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) dedicated to authentic healthcare for women that provide medical, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and behavioral health services. Many sites include an on-site pharmacy, and five also offer dental care. Across the state of Ohio there are 637 Federally Qualified Health Centers to serve women and families that do not profit from abortion.
“This victory proves that women and families do not need abortion providers to receive high-quality, compassionate healthcare,” said Laura Strietmann, Executive Director of Cincinnati Right to Life. “We are grateful that taxpayer dollars are no longer being funneled into the abortion industry, supporting the taking of the lives of so many precious babies while harming their mothers. We promote the life-affirming medical services that FQHCs provide every single day.”
For Ohio, this reprieve is especially significant. With the 2023 enshrinement of abortion in the state Constitution, Ohio has become an abortion travel hub, with out-of-state cars lining up outside the Cincinnati Planned Parenthood. We expect the 2024 abortion numbers to be horrific when announced later this month. “The funding spigot being cut off will surely save lives,” shared Laura Strietmann, Executive Director of Cincinnati Right to Life.
CRTL is grateful to Ohio Senators Moreno and Husted for voting to defund death and we also thank Congressmen Warren Davidson and David Taylor, all friends of preborn life in Ohio.
Cincinnati Right to Life will continue to advocate for the permanent redirection of taxpayer funding away from abortion and toward authentic healthcare providers who serve families with dignity, compassion, and respect for all human life.
