Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

In 1965, eight years before the Roe decision, this 18 week pre-born baby was on the cover of LIFE magazine. He is sensitive to pain, he sleeps and wakes with his mother, he swallows and reacts to sound.

This issue of LIFE was the fastest selling in the history of the publication.
In Ohio it is legal to dismember and poison this little boy in his mother’s womb.

Today we grieve the over 65 million children lost through abortion since the 1973 decisions of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. We reflect with heartbreaking magnitude of the lost lives and the pain inflicted on the mothers and fathers who made abortion decisions. Our world is missing a third generation; the baby aborted in 1973, her children and now her grandchildren. Hundreds of millions of people gone.

And while we celebrate the June 24, 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, as we know too well in Ohio, state and federal laws, in many instances, are still hostile to preborn children. We continue to advocate and work tirelessly. Please join us in prayer:

Lord God, Move the hearts of all our public officials and especially our President, to fulfill their responsibilities worthily to all those entrusted to their care.

Help them in their leadership roles to extend the mantle of protection to the most vulnerable, especially the defenseless unborn, whose lives are threatened with extermination by an indifferent society.

Guide all public officials by your wisdom and grace to cease supporting any law that fails to protect the fundamental good that is human life itself.

You are the Protector and Defender of the lives of the innocent unborn. Change the hearts of those who compromise the call to protect and defend life.

Bring our nation to the values that have made us a great nation, a society that upholds the values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all.

Lord, help us to bear witness to the Gospel of Life with our lives and our laws, through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.
