ACTION ITEM: Letter writing to our US Senators and Congress Members

For years, the abortion industry shaped the conversation—branding chemical abortion as “safe,” “simple,” and “private.”

They downplayed the risks. They ignored the trauma. They hid the reality. Not anymore.

This week, a groundbreaking report broke through the media silence, making waves in outlets like the New York Post:

“One in ten chemical abortions result in serious medical complications—and the actual risk is 22 times greater than what the FDA acknowledges.” We’re talking about sepsis. Massive bleeding. Emergency interventions. These aren’t outliers—they’re the expected outcomes of a system built on misinformation.

For years, Cincinnati Right to Life has shared the truth of the violence and deception of these deadly drugs.

On March 25, 2024: Fast-Tracked: The Facts Behind Chemical Abortion

How a relatively untested drug was invented overseas and later approved in the U.S. despite no initial trials stateside, no information on drug interactions and no information on long term effects, even today.

On July 26, 2024: If you live in Cincinnati, are you drinking fetal remains?

How the chemical abortion industry has propelled the U.S. to a top-three abortion nation globally while simultaneously threatening our water systems with aborted fetuses and highly toxic chemicals.

On April 28, 2025: The Abortion Pill Harms Women: Insurance Data Reveals One in Ten Patients Experiences a Serious Adverse Event

Approving the abortion pill was a profound violation of public trust.

Chemical abortion drugs now account for an estimated 80% of preborn child deaths, with their use rapidly increasing. Allowing this rise while suppressing the truth for political gain and financial interest may be remembered as one of the most devastating injustices of our time.

The truth has been hidden for far too long. The FDA looked the other way. The abortion industry deceived the public.

Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Moreno,

I write to you today on behalf of concerned citizens across Ohio, compelled by a recent and deeply unsettling report published by the Ethics and Public Policy Center—the largest study to date on the outcomes of chemical abortions. This analysis, covering over 865,000 cases between 2017 and 2023, uncovers a profoundly disturbing reality: nearly 11% of women who used abortion drugs experienced serious complications, including hemorrhaging, sepsis, infection, and tragically, death in some cases.

These findings directly contradict the FDA’s longstanding claims that adverse effects from these drugs occur in only 0.5% of cases. In truth, the actual complication rate is more than 20 times higher than previously reported. This is not a minor discrepancy—it is a catastrophic failure of oversight that endangers countless women.

Several points demand urgent attention:

  • Chemical abortion drugs are not as safe as advertised. The narrative that these pills are no more risky than common medications like Tylenol is misleading and dangerous.
  • The move toward mail-order distribution without in-person medical evaluation or follow-up care puts women—and especially young girls—at extreme risk.
  • The FDA has pushed forward with deregulation despite relying on outdated or incomplete data, and this raises pressing questions about what other risks may be going unreported or intentionally obscured.

Despite these risks, chemical abortions now account for the majority of abortions nationwide. The abortion industry and its pharmaceutical allies continue to profit heavily, even as evidence of harm mounts. There is a clear and troubling prioritization of profit over women’s health and safety.

This issue has escalated into a public health crisis. Women deserve the full truth, rigorous safety standards, and protection from dangerous, profit-driven practices. That is why we respectfully urge you to take action by calling for congressional hearings to thoroughly investigate the FDA’s handling of these drugs, including its approval process, its mail-order policies, and its failure to require comprehensive adverse event reporting.

Senator Moreno, your voice is needed to expose these dangers and demand accountability. We are grateful for your dedication to life and liberty, and we trust you will approach this matter with the urgency and integrity it requires.

Thank you for your leadership and your commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among us.

Sincerely,

Laura Strietmann
