One Big Beautiful Bill passes House
House Voted to Defund Big Abortion-The One Big Beautiful Bill is Now on to the Senate

It is critical for Ohio!
Early Thursday morning, House Republicans delivered on their promise to defund Big Abortion by passing the budget reconciliation bill. The final vote tally was 215-214 with Cincinnati Right to Life friend and endorsed Republican Rep. Warren Davidson and Kentucky’s Rep. Thomas Massie joining the Democrats in voting “no” to the over 1,000-page bill. Cincinnati Right to Life is thankful the bill passed even without Davidson and Massie.

The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” is not the flawless fix for fraud and waste, but it does include a key measure: ensuring that no Medicaid funds “shall be used to make payments to a prohibited entity for items and services furnished during a 10-year period.”
This development represents a major victory for the pro-life movement, as Planned Parenthood receives over one-third of its total funding from the U.S. government through grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements—amounting to roughly $2 million per day in taxpayer dollars. Moreover, public funding for the organization has been steadily rising, with a 50% increase since 2013.
In 2024, Planned Parenthood performed a record number of abortions—over 400,000—marking a tragic milestone as more preborn lives than ever were ended for profit and convenience by our nation’s abortion giant. At the same time, the organization’s so-called “other services” continued to steadily decline, further revealing its true priority–slaughtering the preborn.
The House’s approval of this bill marks a promising step forward, but the battle is not yet won. The legislation now heads to the Senate, where pro-life legislators must remain steadfast in pushing it through to final passage.
Because the One Big Beautiful Bill is being advanced through the reconciliation process, it only needs a simple majority—50 votes—to pass in the Senate. With Republicans currently holding a 53–47 majority, they can afford to lose no more than three votes. In the event of a 50–50 tie, the Vice President can cast the deciding vote.
Cincinnati Right to Life calls on the Senate to reject the deceptive narratives of the abortion industry. We remain committed to ensuring that no American is compelled to fund Big Abortion.
It is critically important for Ohio to defund Planned Parenthood through the One Big Beautiful Bill, especially considering the organization’s extensive and diabolical presence in the state.
With twenty facilities operating across Ohio—four of which perform later-term surgical abortions—Planned Parenthood plays a central role in promoting death and destruction of the pre-born here in our nation’s seventh most populous state. The remaining centers continue to refer for abortion and distribute chemical abortion drugs, leading to the intentional destruction of preborn lives and harming tens of thousands of women.
Since the tragic passage of Issue 1 in November 2023, which enshrined abortion access up to birth in Ohio’s Constitution, the number of abortions has surged dramatically. This has been compounded by a sharp rise in out-of-state residents seeking abortions in Ohio, as reported by sidewalk advocates. Defunding Planned Parenthood is a necessary step toward protecting the sanctity of life and restoring a culture that values every human being from conception.
Please help Cincinnati Right to Life contact our Senators to ensure they are all committed to passing this bill. It is most helpful for you to only call the Senator of your state, but feel free to call his Washington DC office and local office every day, requesting they commit to passing a bill without any cuts to the provisions that would defund Planned Parenthood.

Some reminders for the Senators as you make phone calls and send emails
- The use of public money to facilitate the destruction of human life or the manipulation of defenseless children is unacceptable.
- Over the past ten years, Planned Parenthood has seen a 20% rise in abortions performed at its facilities, even as its provision of legitimate healthcare services has significantly declined.
- It is unacceptable that taxpayer funding for the organization has surged to nearly $800 million a year—an all-time high in its history.
- Over the past decade, Planned Parenhood has seen a 30% decline in clients and a 25% reduction in the number of its facilities, yet our tax dollars continue to grow.
- Planned Parenthood fails to meet the needs of most American women and families, with a recent analysis showing that only 2% of women of reproductive age in the U.S. use its services.
- Planned Parentthoood faced numerous allegations, including Medicaid fraud, deceptive marketing practices, failure to report child sexual abuse, and acts of discrimination.
- While Planned Parenthood’s services continue to decline, its profits are increasing and allegations of misconduct are growing. It is both unjust and unethical for American taxpayers to be forced to fund this organization at almost $2 million each day.
- There are approximately 1,400 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in the United States, which serve a significant number of patients across various communities. These centers provide essential healthcare services to underserved populations, ensuring access to quality care regardless of income or insurance. We don’t need Planned Parenthood.
- Across the country, community health centers outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities by a ratio of 15 to 1, offering Americans a wide range of alternative healthcare options.
We must take immediate action and hold
Planned Parenthood accountable.
