Weekly Update – Week Six
WHAT WE’VE SEEN DURING THIS CAMPAIGN – DAY OF EXODUS – CLOSING DAY PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
This campaign has seen a few scattered warm spring days, but mostly it seems there have been some really cold days and lots of rain! If you took part during some of the worst weather days you may have mumbled to yourself, but what I’ve heard more than once from participants is “I’m offering it up.” Yes, we pray and witness to the clients, workers and passersby, but we also make reparation to God for our country that sanctions the evil of abortion and for keeping abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood open with our money.
FRIDAY – DAY OF EXODUS – Abby Johnson’s organization And Then There Were None has sent a mailing to abortion facilities around the country encouraging workers to walk out en masse. She knows that there are workers who want to quit their jobs, but doing so alone is hard. If they have support, maybe they will have the courage to leave. That’s the idea behind the Day of Exodus. The first year this was done was in 2013. The day was dubbed “Exodus 2013” (it turns out Exodus 20:13 is the verse “Thou Shalt Not Kill.”) Last year there were 15 to 20 quitters. That speaks to the power of prayer. Say a prayer today that we have some quitters here locally.
CLOSING DAY PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING – SUNDAY, APRIL 13 – 2PM
Starting at Holy Name Church parking lot (you may park there), we process to Planned Parenthood while praying the Way of the Cross for Victims of Abortion, concluding the Stations and the rest of the program there. Fr. Matt Cushing will lead prayers and speak. There will be an update on the state of pro-life issues in the tri-state area and nationally and information about continuing prayer witness with 40 Days for Life 365. Seven men will be asked to carry placards of the stations as we process.
