Abby Johnson Joins Us
Abby Johnson graciously accepted Laura Strietmann’s invitation to stay in town overnight after she spoke at the Reach Out Pregnancy Center Fundraiser in Harrison on Tuesday evening so she could join us on the sidewalk at Planned Parenthood Wednesday morning.
On a breezy, cold morning, thirty-five to forty people showed up at 9am to greet Abby. She thanked us for the sacrifices we make to come to pray throughout the 40 Days for Life campaigns and acknowledged that we don’t often see the fruits of our public witness as we might if we worked at a pregnancy center.
She recounted her conversion after seeing an ultrasound guided abortion of a 13-week baby and the love and support she received from the participants at the Bryan/College Station, Texas, 40 Days for Life (where the campaign began). She is still friends with those (including Shawn Carney) who had reached out to her before her conversion there.
Daytime Participants Excited About Night Hour Coverage
Those present expressed their enthusiasm and admiration for the men who have committed to covering the night hours of this campaign from 7pm to 7am. Although in the early days of our campaigns we did have parishes that committed to covering an entire twenty-four hour prayer day, this is the first time we have been able to cover all 960 hours with public prayer.
Join Us This Evening – Friday, October 18 – 7 to 8pm in front of Planned Parenthood – For our Midpoint Group Prayer Hour to thank God for the blessings received during the first half of the campaign and ask for the success of the remainder of the campaign. No sign up necessary for this hour.
Upcoming Event – Sunday, November 3 – 2-3pm in front of Planned Parenthood – Prayer Hour of Thanksgiving – Join us for a final group event of the fall campaign thanking God for the blessings He has given us throughout the last 40 days. We will recount the successes that have been achieved and outline our plans to ask our participants to commit to ongoing prayer at this vigil site on a weekly or monthly basis during the office hours of this Planned Parenthood location until the next 40 Days for Life campaign in the spring of 2025. We need to be present beyond the 40 Days for Life campaign to continue our witness to the Sanctity of Human Life. Parking, as usual, is on side streets and at Holy Name Church, 2422 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45219. Prayer leader TBA
