Weekly Update – Week Six

We Walk By Faith & Closing Prayer Event

I received the following narrative from a faithful prayer warrior about an encounter she had this week while at Planned Parenthood with a group from her parish who have been taking a weekly prayer hour during 40 Days for Life campaigns for years. I thank her for sending it to me and I hope it inspires you to keep up your prayer witness as we never know when our presence and kindness may make a difference in someone’s life.

I just want to let you know that when I was at PP on Tuesday afternoon, a young lady (maybe 20?) was pulling into the PP driveway when I happened to be right near the entranceway. She must have felt the need to stop to be extra careful, or maybe she was looking at our pro-life signs, but after a brief pause, and not really responding to my offer to speak with her, she decided to back up a bit, then continue driving north on Auburn Ave. She went into the big lot next to PP and parked her car. I watched to see if she would exit her car, but she didn’t. I decided to walk up the street and into the parking lot to approach her & start a conversation.

As I came near her car, I waved friendly so as to not frighten her. She saw me and rolled down her window. I asked if she needed any help, and she nervously answered that she was only there to “meet someone”. I asked which building, and she couldn’t answer. So, I just told her that I would be glad to help if she needed me. Then she smiled, and I said, “You are really beautiful”, She seemed to like the compliment , and I told her that I liked her head scarf too. Then I said, May God bless you! several times, and she smiled at me. Then I walked away.

When I was back with the other ladies who were praying the rosary, (on the sidewalk), I continued to watch the car. Within a few minutes, she drove away. We watched to see if she would return, but, within the next 30 to 40 minutes, she did not. I don’t know if she really was going to pick up someone, or if she was the person who intended to go into PP, but maybe Our Lady heard the prayers of our rosary. We thanked God that she did not return.
