Weekly Update – Week Four

The Importance of Being on the Sidewalk

Due to preparations for last Thursday’s Cincinnati Right to Life Evening for Life, last Friday’s update was delayed until this week. At the banquet we heard from Kaya Jones who told her story of the priorities which the music industry values. Values having to do with money and fame over Christian virtue and the needs of the artists that are used by the industry.

Kaya wants women and men contemplating abortion to know that there is spiritual, emotional, and mental trauma that people have to work through for the rest of their lives. But she also doesn’t leave out the most important thing—God will forgive if you ask Him. She emphasized the need for us to be present at the abortion facility to reach out even with the simple words of support, “You can do this.” We must use whatever opportunities we have to make sure everyone knows where our pregnancy centers are and that those compassionate, supportive souls who work there will do whatever they can to make sure women know they are not alone in their pregnancies.

Challenge

This Fall Campaign we were challenged to pray, fast or do penance with a more focused intention, and or strengthen our prayers on behalf or the unborn, the mothers & fathers and, the abortion professionals & workers.  So for this update here’s two more ideas:

1)  Let’s make a concerted effort to include our civil and religious leaders and call on the Holy Spirit to give them the guidance and strength to act with courage, mercy and wisdom – in advocating, legislating, and voting! Let’s call on their Guardian Angels and their name saints to bolster them up and inspire their efforts for God’s will!

2) Here’s St. Augustine’s beautiful prayer to the Holy Spirit – We can change the “Me” to They (by intention naming and encompassing all those in the above intention as well as ourselves! “Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.  Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.  Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.  Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen.”

If you would like to share how you have you challenged yourself to enhance your prayers for the unborn, we’d love to hear from you at the email address above! Have a blest and challenging week (in a good way)!
