New Ohio Abortion Report Shows 15% Increase in Deaths of Preborn Children
Cincinnati Right to Life Relocated Two Blocks from Planned Parenthood in Response

CINCINNATI, OH — The newly released 2025 Ohio Department of Health Abortion Report reveals a sharp increase in the number of preborn children killed across the state, with Hamilton County continuing to rank among the highest in Ohio.
According to the state’s official data:

  • 25,135 preborn children were killed in Ohio in 2025, up from 21,829 in 2024 — a 15% statewide increase.
  • In Hamilton County, abortions rose from 4,161 in 2024 to 4,438 in 2025 — 277 additional preborn lives lost locally in just one year.

For further perspective, in 2022 — the year Roe v. Wade was overturned — Hamilton County reported 3,129 tragic abortion deaths. The rise from 3,129 in 2022 to 4,438 in 2025 represents 1,309 additional preborn children killed annually and approximately a 41.8% increase in abortion deaths in Hamilton County since Roe was overturned.

Abortion totals were previously released in October of the following year. However, due to a reporting requirement included in the state budget, these numbers are now released much sooner — by March 1 — allowing for more timely and transparent public awareness.

To put the scale of loss into perspective:

  • 25,135 lives lost in 2025 exceeds the entire undergraduate enrollment at Miami University (Oxford) (~20,000 students).
  • It represents more than half the total student body of the University of Cincinnati (~46,000 students).
  • It is nearly half the size of Ohio State University’s Columbus campus (~61,000 students).

While there are many alarming statistics in this year’s report, particularly disturbing is that the Cincinnati Planned Parenthood ranks as the top abortion facility in Ohio for abortions performed on minors. In 2025, there were 560 abortions performed on minors statewide, and 124 of those occurred in Hamilton County alone — representing 22% of all minor abortions in Ohio. The concentration of abortions on young girls in our community raises serious concerns.

In response to the rising numbers in Hamilton County, Cincinnati Right to Life has relocated its headquarters to a new facility just two blocks from Planned Parenthood.

“This is not just a policy debate — it is a humanitarian crisis,” said Laura Strietmann, Executive Director of Cincinnati Right to Life. “More than 25,000 preborn sons and daughters were destroyed in the womb in Ohio last year. With Hamilton County serving as a hub for abortion activity, we made the decision to relocate two blocks from Planned Parenthood because we cannot remain distant while the slaughter continues. We must be present — offering truth, compassion, and real support to mothers and their children.”

Our new location just two blocks from Planned Parenthood positions Cincinnati Right to Life to expand peaceful pro-life outreach efforts, strengthen support for mothers facing crisis pregnancies, increase community education, and partner more closely with local pregnancy resource centers — all while continuing to advocate aggressively in Columbus and Washington, D.C.

In the face of this humanitarian crisis, Cincinnati Right to Life is actively advancing the She Wins Act (HB 347) through the Ohio House. This informed consent legislation would require expecting mothers to be fully informed of the emotional, physical, and psychological risks associated with abortion. Proponent testimony, including expert witnesses, was held in February, with opponent testimony scheduled for Wednesday, March 4 in Columbus at the Statehouse.

“This is what the destruction of children in the womb looks like after making the slaughter a constitutional right and after the ACLU and Planned Parenthood stripped away legal protections from children in the womb,” Strietmann added. “We will continue to stand for preborn sons and daughters, support mothers, and fight to restore protections for the most vulnerable among us.”

Cincinnati Right to Life is calling on community members to respond to the alarming increase by getting involved, supporting life-affirming ministries, and advocating for policies that protect preborn children.
