“You Are A Lifesaver”

A nice woman stopped at the entrance of Planned Parenthood — we’ll call her “Angie.” Sidewalk Advocate Adam gave her a pamphlet with resource information. Angie explained that she was meeting a woman there who was going through a difficult time — she had just lost her mother and, on top of that, might be pregnant. Angie’s friend was going to the Planned Parenthood for a pregnancy test, but Angie didn’t know what else “this place” did.
When Adam explained that it was an abortion facility, Angie’s jaw dropped, and she responded, “Oh! … I hope that she isn’t coming here for that.” Adam agreed, “I really hope so too.” Adam explained that they could instead go to the pregnancy resource center for a free pregnancy test and possibly an ultrasound. After receiving the information, Angie started tearing up and said,
“I am so glad I met you, Adam. I’m so glad that you were here. You are a lifesaver.“
When a young couple came soon after, Adam wasn’t sure if he was speaking to Angie’s friend, so he treated them just like any other couple. He looked the young woman in the eyes and told her that he knew she might be in a difficult situation, but he could help her. Adam then explained the free help that was available.
Minutes later, both Angie and the couple pulled into the parking lot next door. Angie got out to ask if they needed to schedule an appointment before going to the pregnancy center. Adam told them he would call the center to let them know the couple was coming, and they would be taken care of right away. The pregnancy center happily welcomed the couple, who was grateful to be there instead of Planned Parenthood. Thanks be to God!
