Last week I relayed the story PC West’s director told at our kickoff rally for this campaign. PC East’s director Laura Curran also told an inspiring story about a couple that chose life for their child who would only live a few hours after her birth.
As soon as the couple was given this news by the woman’s doctor, he also told them they needed to make an appointment with Planned Parenthood for an abortion because of the fatal diagnosis. Probably in shock, they came to PP, but were not treated with sympathy. On leaving the building they talked to someone praying on the sidewalk and were put in touch with the supportive people of PC East. With encouragement from staff there, they decided that they would love the baby before and after birth for whatever time she was given to live.
Because of their life-affirming decision, they were able to witness to the hospital staff and the doctor, who even said now he knows another way to handle similar cases in the future.
“Can you watch with me one hour?”
You can still sign up for vigil hours (7am to 7pm) online at our website or contact Mary Clark (see above) to do so for you. Although on paper we have all our vigil hours covered, there are many hours during which one person is signed up to pray. We would like at least two people present at all hours (more are always welcome!). There’s always a chance that the single participant has to cancel his or her hour, so we appreciate your additional support.
Midpoint Prayer Hour
We will be holding a Midpoint Prayer Vigil in front of our vigil site this Friday from 7 to 8pm. There is no sign up necessary. It is one of the few opportunities during the campaign when we can gather as one to pray for all of the intentions of the campaign. See LOCAL EVENTS on our website, www.40daysforlife.

Please let me know if your affiliation is not listed, whether you come to pray as an individual or with a group.
