UPDATE
In the last few years sidewalk chalk drawings and pro-life phrases have become a way to bring the truth to passersby who might not give much thought, if any, to the hidden life of the unborn or the turmoil caused in the lives of the women and families of the babies in danger of abortion. A few days ago, a visual representation of the beauty of the unborn was depicted on the sidewalk near the Planned Parenthood entrance. Vigil participants there that day admired the artistry and even a person who said he was “on the other side” told us that he thought anyone who would spend time creating such art and those who took the time to come to give public witness, impressed him as people who had deeply held beliefs in the pro-life cause. It seemed he admired our fervor. (Photo titled “Sidewalk Chalk Drawing of the Unborn” can be viewed from the “Resources” list on our website.)
Although our discussion with him was civil, unfortunately, he continued to assert that he thought abortion should still be allowed up to the point of “viability.” He has bought into the lie that the mother alone should decide the child’s fate. Maybe if he had witnessed a woman who had come to the facility earlier that same day desperate to obtain an abortion (and thinking she could get one immediately that day – a Sunday), he would realize that legalized abortion is not a loving way to deal with any real or imagined problems. It is a terribly evil choice that helps no one.
Pray for this man and woman and thousands of others that the Holy Spirit convict them with the humanity of the unborn and the need to support the women and families who have been told and believe that places like Planned Parenthood are their salvation. Pray that instead we have the opportunity to direct them toward the real Christ-like material and spiritual help they will receive at pregnancy help centers. You can download our pregnancy centers sheets from the list of “Resources” on our website.
Except for one hour next Thursday, all our vigil hours are minimally covered at this time. But we need more than one or two persons praying each hour during the remainder of the campaign. Help us increase our participation by signing up for prayer hours on our website, www.40daysforlife.
Upcoming Event - Closing Day Prayer of Thanksgiving - Sunday, October 31 at 2pm. See details at www.40daysforlife.com/
