40 Days for Life – Update 3/14/19
Now More Than Ever!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, March 14, 2019 (Cincinnati, OH) – from 40 Days for Life Cincinnati campaign leader Mary Clark:
We have completed a little over a week of the campaign and I want to thank everyone who has taken prayer hours in front of Planned Parenthood to this point. A special thanks to those who have organized their parish groups to cover whole days or even weekly prayer hours plus blessings on those who have stepped up to cover hours when I put out the call.
On Sunday, March 3, in the midst of a continuous snow shower, at least fifty hardy souls stood in front of Planned Parenthood as we held the kickoff for the Cincinnati 40 Days for Life spring/Lenten campaign, which inaugurated our 23rd campaign. I hope to be able to post some photos of the event soon.
Deacon Mark Machuga, Director of the Diaconate Office at the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, was our prayer leader and main speaker. I have heard many positive comments on Deacon Machuga’s remarks which he entitled “NOW MORE THAN EVER.” He commented on several recent appalling and unbelievable developments such as New York’s recently passed Reproductive “Health” Act that was signed by Governor Cuomo amid a gleeful group of abortion supporters. The law makes it legal to abort a baby right up to the moment she would be delivering her baby. As if to flaunt the signing, the World Trade Center was lit up in pink.
Next he mentioned the cold-hearted description of what would transpire if a baby was born alive in the commission of an abortion by Virginia Governor Northam and the defeat in the U.S. Senate of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
We also were grateful to Ohio Representative Tom Brinkman who updated us on the positive actions at the Statehouse. He looks forward to the passage and signing of the long-awaited Heartbeat Bill. He also reminded us to make a point to thank our pro-life representatives as they often feel like they are in a bunker because of the negative comments they receive from pro-abortion constituents. Positive comments go a long way to support them.
Let me end with this quote from Deacon Machuga’s on the tragic recent developments and the importance of 40 Days for Life: “This is why my dear friends that our witness here over the next 40 days is so very important. Yes, it is a sacrifice for everyone who comes here to pray and to be that witness to all who pass by. But we can’t let up in our resolve. Now, MORE THAN EVER, let us continue to stand up for life!”
Join us for our Midpoint Prayer Hour on March 22 at 7:00 p.m. in front of Planned Parenthood.
