Vote NO on Issue 1
For Immediate Release November 5, 2018
Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati and the Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio join other conservative, pro-life, and pro-family groups in opposing Issue 1.
Issue 1 is a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution which requires that a number of current felony penalties for the criminal offenses of obtaining, possessing, or using illegal drugs (including methamphetamine, cocaine, LSD, heroin and fentanyl) be reduced to misdemeanors. It will appear on the ballot with this title: “To Reduce Penalties for Crimes of Obtaining, Possessing, and using Illegal Drugs”.
It is possible that penalties related to illegal forms of chemical abortion could be made more lenient by this change in language. Relaxed sentences could apply to crimes like unlawful abortion on a minor, partial birth infanticide, or unlawful distribution of an abortion-inducing drug.
Because of this and other anti-family language, Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati and the Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio oppose Issue 1.
