Not Over Yet
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, December 14, 2016 (Cincinnati, OH) – As widely reported, yesterday Governor Kasich vetoed the Heartbeat Bill measure that would have protected an estimated 90% of the over 20,000 babies aborted annually in the state. The governor did sign a ban on abortion of babies after 20 weeks gestation.
“Cincinnati Right to Life supports all efforts to rescue unborn children from abortion at any stage of development, but until bold legislative strategies are enacted we are only putting a band aid on a gaping wound,” said Paula Westwood, Executive Director, Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati. “Ohio’s human heartbeat protection measure is a solid step toward rescuing every abortion victim.”
Despite the Governor’s veto, the legislature can override it.
1) Thank Speaker Cliff Rosenberger for getting the Heartbeat Bill passed in the Ohio House of Representatives. Then ask Speaker Rosenberger to override Gov. Kasich’s veto of the Heartbeat Bill by bringing it to a vote in the House.
