Diverts $1.3 Million in Tax Dollars Away From Abortionists
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 22, 2016 (Cincinnati, OH): In a private setting Sunday, Ohio Governor John Kasich signed House Bill 294 to block abortionists in Ohio from qualifying for five funding programs administered by the Ohio Department of Health. The bill redirects state-administered grants–approximately $1.3 million last year–away from Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.
Cincinnati Right to Life thanks sponsors Representatives Margy Conditt and Bill Patmon, all co-sponsors in the Ohio House and Senate, and Governor Kasich for signing this bipartisan bill to ensure that some citizens’ tax dollars do not prop up the abortion industry.
“Planned Parenthood and other abortionists have other sources of income–including from ending the lives of unborn children–and do not merit government funds,” Paula Westwood, Executive Director, Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati. “Work will now continue to remove all such funding to abortion providers, including Medicaid reimbursements.”
House Bill 294 will go into effect within 90 days.
