Bi-Partisan Lead Sponsors
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, July 30, 2015 (Cincinnati, OH): Due to video evidence of Planned Parenthood trafficking in baby body parts, HB 294 was introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives today to defund this abortion chain–with lead sponsors Representatives Margaret Conditt (R-Liberty Township) and Bill Patmon (D-Cleveland) and 20 co-sponsors.
“This bill is about ensuring our tax dollars are used for programs that help women every day in their healthcare needs – not abortions,” said Rep. Conditt.
HB 294 requires that the Department of Health ensure that state funds and certain federal funds are not used either to perform or promote elective abortions, or to contract or affiliate with any entity that performs or promotes elective abortions. Hearings on the bill are expected to begin after September 30th, when the legislature resumes session.
In fiscal year 2013-2014, Planned Parenthood received $1.3 million in taxpayer subsidies in the state of Ohio. Federally, the abortion chain received over $500 million.
