Dayton & Toledo
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 26, 2015 (Cincinnati, OH): The Ohio Department of Health has denied the Women’s Med Center abortion facility in Dayton, Ohio its request for a variance (exception) to the requirement that it have a transfer agreement with a nearby hospital to cover patient emergencies.
Reportedly, according to ODH Director Rick Hodges, patient safety is not guaranteed. The center has 30 days to file a new request for variance, or its license might not be renewed. This facility is run by notorious late term abortionist Martin Haskell, who is prohibited from performing surgical abortions at his Women’s Med Center facility in Sharonville, Ohio.
In another decision, the Ohio Department of Health has granted a license to perform surgical abortions to Northeast Ohio Women’s Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio formerly known as Capital Care Network.
According to Right to Life of Northeast Ohio:
Northeast Ohio Women’s Center “is run by David Burkons who was affiliated with the facility when it was shut down by the Ohio Department of Health and the US Drug Enforcement Agency for multiple health and safety and drug violations. Burkons also holds the record for the most botched RU486 abortions in the state, and runs the Toledo Women’s Center abortion facility that has been ordered to close.”
“He is the medical director at Preterm abortion facility in Cleveland where 22 year old Lakisha Wilson died last year during a late term abortion, and has been affiliated with the Planned Parenthood Bedford facility which was recently fined $25,000 by the ODH for multiple violations.”
