Ohio Department of Health Director’s Decision Confirmed
June 30, 2014 (Cincinnati, OH): Today, Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas Magistrate Michael Bachman heard oral arguments for Lebanon Road Surgery Center vs. State of Ohio Department of Health, Monday. Magistrate Bachman upheld the Ohio Department of Health’s order that Martin Haskell’s abortion facility in Sharonville, Ohio be denied a license and closed for operating outside the law.
The attorney presenting arguments for LRSC was Jennifer Branch. The attorney representing the Ohio Department of Health and Director Ted Wymyslo was Assistant Attorney General Melissa Wilburn.
Several pro-life representatives attended the hearing, while other pro-life witnesses maintained a peaceful presence on the steps of the court house giving public testimony that at the very least women seeking abortion deserve medical safety standards according to law, but more importantly, abortion is not healthcare.
The original judge for this case is Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas Judge Jerry Metz, who approved a motion for a stay of execution and the Lebanon Road Surgery Center has remained open–continuing to operate outside the law, without a written transfer agreement or variance required of all other ambulatory surgical facilities in the state.
Further information and what this means regarding this Sharonville abortion business is being confirmed and will be released once it is. Lebanon Road Surgery Center is expected to appeal this decision.
