Celebrating the Joy of Life
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, May 13, 2014 – In a joyful show of support for the sanctity of human life, religious liberty and conscience rights, more than 4,000 tristate residents will gather at the World Peace Bell, 421 Monmouth St., Newport, KY, on Sunday, June 1, for the ninth annual Cross the Bridge for Life.
All are invited to participate in this yearly celebration as thousands of people cross the Purple People Bridge and fill it with the joy of life.
Festivities begin at 1:30 p.m. including music by the Cincinnati Gospel Life Ensemble, the Lee Roessler Band, face painting, balloon artists, and more!
The walk begins after a brief program at 3 p.m. featuring Honorary Event Chairman Matt Swaim, host of the Son Rose Morning Show, Sacred Heart Radio/EWTN; plus the Most Reverend Roger Foys, Diocese of Covington; Pastor Rich Lanning, Evangelical Community Church; and Tony Steiritz, Director, Catholic Social Action, Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
Bagpipers from the Ancient Order of Hibernians will once again lead walkers across the bridge. The event will end back at the World Peace Bell with a free picnic by JTM Food Group, and more music by the Lee Roessler Band. Kona Ice and the Knights of Columbus donut trailer will also have treats for purchase.
This year’s honored Defenders of Life are the Little Sisters of the Poor, who will ring the World Peace Bell. The federal health law’s HHS Mandate requires all insurance plans to cover birth control, abortion inducing drugs, and sterilizations. Little Sisters of the Poor are suing the government, because this mandate forces them to violate their faith and religious vows.
Little Sisters of the Poor run more than 30 facilities in the United States, including Cincinnati, “to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself.”
A coalition of more than 20 area pro-life organizations presents this positive event for the community. (CrossTheBridgeforLife.com)
