Companion Bill in the House
March 15, 2015 – See the following announcement from Ohio Pro-Life Action for the latest announcement on Ohio’s “Heartbeat Bill.” Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati is an Ohio Pro-Life Action Associate Member organization, and remains committed to this constitutionally sound bill.
March 15, 2014 (Columbus, OH): Ohio Pro-Life Action extends its gratitude to Ohio Senator Kris Jordan for reintroducing Senate Bill 297, Ohio’s “Heartbeat Bill,” in the Ohio Senate, as well as to Representative Christina Hagan who is reviving a companion bill in the House.
Ohio Pro-Life Action has supported this bill from its beginning three years ago, for increased protection of women and their unborn children.
“We look forward to serious Ohio House and Senate consideration of the Heartbeat Bill in the coming months,” said Linda Theis, President, Ohio Pro-Life Action. “We will be working with Ohio legislators to pass this positive, historic legislation.”
Ohio’s Heartbeat Bill protects unborn babies from abortion once a heartbeat is detected, as early as six weeks gestation. First introduced in Ohio, the Heartbeat Bill has become a model for other states working on similar bills.
Indications from General Assembly leadership are that the bill will be considered after the May 6th primary.
